CMS Releases Maternity Care Action Plan

The Centers for Medicaire & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its Maternity Care Action Plan in tandem with the Biden-Harris administration’s recent addressal of the United States’ maternal health crisis. Medicaid is extending its insurance coverage to 12 months after pregnancy. In addition, hospitals are moving toward more “birthing-friendly” facilities. The action plan encourages health care facilities, insurance companies, and state officials to commit to improving maternal health outcomes.
